This classroom is designed for children who will barely miss kindergarten and for those who will go into kindergarten needing a little boost. They will be taught the skills and concepts that elementary teachers expect them to know and will work together in small, as well as large groups. Computers now become an active learning tool. Communication skills and confidence is enhanced through activities, such as literature, songs, writing and telling stories. Numbers and letters are taught through learning activities, creative art projects, reading readiness and music. Language arts development will include an introduction to phonics and a wide variety of writing activities. Science, both social and experimental, includes weekly topics that help the children experience and understand how the world around them works. Children increase math skills by utilizing graphs, counting, patterns and simple addition and subtraction. Both large and fine motor skills are developed through various activities.
